Home equity line of credit – known as a HELOC is a “secure” loan from a bank or credit union, which means that you are using your house as collateral for the loan. If you bought your house for $ 100,000 five years ago, but now you can sell it for $ 150,000, then you essentially have a $ 50,000 in equity in your home. The bank may give you a Home Equity line of credit for this $ 50 000. Then you can write checks on some or all of the money and pay for time with great interest.
